Azalea Walc, MScPT, MSc Exercise Physiology, BSc. Kinesiology

Azalea (she/her) completed her Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, a thesis-based Master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology, and a Master of Science in Physiotherapy at Queen’s University. As a student athletic therapist for Queen’s Varsity Basketball and Volleyball, she gained hands-on experience managing sports injuries at the collegiate level. Her graduate research involved VO₂ max testing and lifestyle-based interventions for managing chronic disease, equipping her with strong skills in analyzing new literature, applying the latest evidence to her practice, and understanding the body’s physiologic response to exercise training.

Originally from the small town of Tiny, ON, Azalea grew up exploring the shores of Georgian Bay and developed a love for movement, community, and the outdoors. Now a Kingston local of over 10 years, she is excited to give back through her work in physiotherapy.

A dedicated triathlete, Azalea was MVP of the Queen’s Varsity Triathlon Team and has represented Canada at the World Triathlon Championships, finishing as the top Canadian in her age group in sprint and mixed relay events. She’s earned first overall female finishes at several Canadian triathlons and has completed the Ironman 70.3 distance in Victoria, Calgary, and Muskoka, qualifying her for the World Championships. She remains active in the triathlon community and loves racing, volunteering, and cheering on local athletes at community events.

Before triathlon, Azalea trained as a competitive dancer at Georgian Bay School of Dance and performed in several Georgian Bay Musical Theatre Productions including Legally Blonde, Rock of Ages, and Mamma Mia! These experiences shaped her appreciation for the physical demands of artistic sports and inspired her special interest in rehabilitation for athletes in the performing arts.

Clinically, Azalea works in both community and hospital settings, supporting clients from the early stages of recovery to returning to the activities they love. She uses an active, movement-based approach with strength training, exercise prescription, and hands-on techniques to help her clients make meaningful progress toward their goals. She values building strong therapeutic relationships and tailoring each program to empower her clients to return to the activities they care about most. Outside the clinic, Azalea enjoys swimming, cycling, running, strength training, yoga, and exploring Kingston’s trails and waterfront.
